About Dr Gyles Morrison

From doctor to designer.

I started in medicine, then moved into digital health. I saw that better care also depends on better systems, technology and experiences.

The story

Healthcare and design are part of the same system.

2005Started medical school.
2011Began working as a doctor.
2014Moved into digital health.
2015Coined the term Clinical UX for my area of focus.

I started medical school in 2005 and began work as a doctor in 2011. In 2014, I moved into digital health and began using my clinical background to improve healthcare technology.

I later completed an MSc in Human–Computer Interaction with Ergonomics. Since then, my work has brought together healthcare, UX, behaviour, technology and change.

In 2015, I coined the term Clinical UX for my focus on how patients and clinicians experience healthcare technology and services.

Perspective

Clinical knowledge. UX practice. One joined-up view.

My medical background helps me understand care. My UX work helps me understand people, products and systems. I bring both views to the same problem.
