Clinical UX Review
Understand where you stand. Know what to do next.
A holistic Clinical UX appraisal of a healthcare idea, product, service or wider project. Gyles brings clinical and user experience perspectives together to uncover meaningful concerns, recognise strengths and produce evidence-informed recommendations that support decisions.
£750 fixed fee · Written report in 5 working days · 60-minute findings discussion
Scope and access are confirmed before payment. The depth of examination reflects the nature and complexity of the project.
Relevant experience
Experience across healthcare, technology and design

Selected previous professional experience; logos are not endorsements of these particular services.
How it creates value
From a complex experience to a clearer way forward.
An effective appraisal does more than list issues. It connects how a healthcare project works, who it serves and what the evidence suggests—then turns those insights into priorities.
Understand the whole
Consider the project, intended users and wider healthcare context.
Identify what matters
Recognise strengths, important concerns and opportunities.
Recommend action
Turn evidence and informed judgement into practical priorities.
Support better decisions
Use the report and discussion to guide the next steps.
What it can help achieve
Clinical, human and commercial questions—considered together.
Recognise potential clinical risks
Surface use-related concerns, workflow conflicts or information gaps that may warrant formal investigation.
Improve usability and human factors
Identify avoidable complexity, confusion, cognitive burden and interaction concerns.
Support health equity
Highlight possible barriers associated with accessibility, literacy, inclusion, language or access.
Strengthen engagement and behaviour change
Examine factors that could support or hinder meaningful action, adoption and continued use.
Connect the wider experience
Consider how people, journeys, services and, where relevant, international markets fit together.
Prioritise smarter investment
Clarify where further research, design work or deeper evaluation could add the most value.
For AI-enabled and other healthcare projects
Is AI helping solve the right healthcare problem?
The Review can examine AI-enabled ideas, products and services alongside other healthcare projects. Relevant questions include whether AI is appropriate, how users understand outputs and limitations, what human oversight is needed, and which clinical, experience-related or equity concerns merit further investigation. It is not technical model validation or certification.
For different stages of healthcare innovation
Useful from an early idea to a global ecosystem.
The size of the organisation does not determine eligibility. What changes is the nature and depth of the appraisal and the evidence available.
Validate the direction of an idea
Challenge assumptions about users, needs and the intended healthcare context before development.
Build on stronger foundations
Understand emerging usability, clinical and service challenges in concepts and prototypes.
Identify barriers to growth
Examine adoption, customer experience, new markets and complexity across a maturing offering.
See cross-cutting priorities
Appraise coherence, important risks and opportunities across a broad ecosystem, at proportionate depth.
The decision-making deliverable
Not just a report. A basis for confident action.
The findings report connects relevant evidence and professional judgement to practical recommendations. It explains what appears to matter, why, what action could help and what still needs validation.
- Strengths worth protecting
- Observations and their likely implications
- Supporting examples and sources, where available
- Prioritised, actionable recommendations
- Uncertainties, limitations and suggested next steps
Included: a 60-minute findings discussion to interpret the results with the organisation and support decisions.
Clinical UX Review
Finding / 01Important guidance may be difficult to recognise
Observation — A key explanation appears after a decision point.
Why it matters — Some users could proceed without understanding the implications.
Recommended action — Review the decision sequence and test a clearer explanation before the action.
Example content only; not a finding about an actual client product.

Scope and expectations
What does a Clinical UX Review include?
Includes
- Holistic appraisal of an agreed healthcare idea, product, service or project
- Depth proportionate to complexity and available evidence
- Relevant Clinical UX, usability, human factors and equity considerations
- Written findings, priorities and actionable recommendations
- 60-minute discussion of implications and next steps
Does not include
- Exhaustive coverage of every market, feature, user group or pathway
- Primary participant research or formal usability testing
- Certification of clinical safety, regulatory compliance or effectiveness
- Detailed redesign, development or implementation
- Subsequent evaluation and delivery work unless separately commissioned
A large, complex programme can still benefit from a strategic appraisal. The report is transparent about which evidence and materials were examined and where further investigation would be appropriate.
Frequently asked questions
Questions before commissioning a Review.
Is the Review only for small products?
No. It can consider an early concept, an established service or a large international ecosystem. The breadth and complexity determine how detailed the appraisal can be within the fixed fee.
Is the report supported by evidence?
Yes. Findings explain their basis where possible, whether from direct observation, materials supplied, relevant guidance or professional analysis. Areas that need primary research or validation are identified as such.
Does it certify clinical safety or AI performance?
No. It can flag potential concerns and questions for further investigation, but does not replace formal clinical safety assurance, regulatory conformity assessment or technical AI model validation.
What happens before paying?
Gyles first confirms the purpose, material available, expected depth, start date and outputs. Payment is arranged after the engagement has been agreed.
What is included in the 60-minute discussion?
The meeting explores the observations, recommendations and possible next steps, and allows relevant colleagues to discuss their implications.
Can the Review cover AI-enabled healthcare?
Yes. It may consider whether the proposed use of AI is appropriate, user understanding, potential over-reliance, human oversight and related UX concerns, without claiming to audit the underlying model.
A clearer next step
Ready to understand what deserves attention?
